Debbarma, a prominent figure in Tripura politics, had previously served as the Deputy Chief Executive Member of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). However, following his victory in the 2023 Tripura Legislative Assembly election, he stepped down from his position in the TTAADC to assume his role as a member of the 13th Tripura Assembly.

His decision to resign has raised eyebrows and sparked discussions within political circles. Debbarma’s journey from engineering at Indian Oil to mainstream politics has been marked by twists and turns, including his association with the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) and later, the formation of the National Conference of Tripura.

As the new legislative session begins, all eyes are on the upcoming oath-taking ceremony, where Animesh Debbarma’s absence from the Deputy Chief Executive Member position will be keenly observed. His resignation adds an intriguing layer to the political landscape in Tripura.
