Agartala: Jan 21: A prominent member of the ruling BJP party has been arrested on charges of raping his domestic help, causing a stir in Kailashahar. According to Kailashahar Women’s Police Station OC Ripita Bhattacharjee, the domestic help filed a written complaint alleging that Anjan Debroy, a resident of Kailashahar Municipality and P.W.D. Road area, had a physical relationship with her. Upon receiving the complaint, the police immediately arrested Debroy and brought him to the police station. A case has been filed under sections 126(2)/64(2)(m)/74,115(2)/351(2) of the BN Act.
Following the arrest, BJP leaders in Kailashahar gathered at the women’s police station, pressuring the police to release Debroy. However, OC Ripita Bhattacharya did not yield to the pressure. The police, adhering to the rules, filed a case against Debroy and produced him in the Kailashahar court this afternoon.
