Agartala witnessed the inauguration of a seven-day National Service Scheme (NSS) special camp at Khudiram Bose English Medium School on Thursday, with Tripura BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee attending as the chief guest.

The camp, organised by the school’s NSS Unit, is being conducted under the theme “Youth for My Bharat & Youth for Digital Literacy.” The initiative aims to encourage students to participate in community service while also equipping them with digital awareness and practical life skills.

Addressing students and volunteers during the inaugural programme, Bhattacharjee emphasized the importance of youth participation in nation-building and social development. He said such programmes help instill discipline, responsibility and the spirit of volunteerism among young people.

“This special initiative will motivate students to contribute towards building a self-reliant and progressive India through social responsibility, voluntary service and digital literacy,” Bhattacharjee said while speaking to reporters after the event.

He also congratulated the NSS volunteers for their dedication and enthusiasm, describing young people as the backbone of the nation’s future. According to him, programmes like NSS camps play a crucial role in shaping responsible citizens capable of addressing social challenges with awareness and compassion.

Organisers informed that the seven-day camp will feature various activities, including digital literacy sessions, health awareness programmes, environmental campaigns and community service initiatives. Students will also participate in practical exercises aimed at improving leadership skills, teamwork and civic engagement.

The organisers said the programme has been designed to prepare students for the challenges of an increasingly digital world while strengthening their understanding of social responsibilities. Special focus will be given to promoting awareness about technology, online safety and the importance of community participation.

Teachers and local residents welcomed the initiative and expressed hope that such programmes would inspire students to become socially conscious and active contributors to society.

The NSS camp is expected to leave a lasting impact on participating students by helping them develop leadership qualities, social values and skills that extend beyond the classroom environment.
