In a compassionate initiative aimed at supporting tuberculosis patients, Tripura Governor Shri Indra Sena Reddy Nallu launched the Food Basket Distribution Programme under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’s Nikshay Mitra Campaign at Sukanta Academy Auditorium, Agartala. The event was jointly organized by the National Health Mission (NHM) Tripura and the Rotary Club of Agartala.
The Nikshay Mitra Campaign, a key component of the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, encourages community participation to ensure proper nutrition, care, and emotional support for individuals undergoing tuberculosis treatment. Recognizing the critical link between nutrition and recovery, the initiative promotes the distribution of nutritious food baskets to TB patients, helping them build strength and improve treatment outcomes.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu emphasized the importance of collective efforts in eliminating TB from the country. He highlighted that strong community involvement, coupled with government and private sector support, is essential for achieving the vision of a TB-free India by 2025, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Governor appreciated the efforts of NHM Tripura and the Rotary Club for their active role in implementing the campaign and reaching out to the most vulnerable sections of society. He also urged citizens, social organizations, and corporate groups to come forward and become Nikshay Mitras to ensure sustained nutritional support for TB patients across the state.
Officials from the Health Department, NHM representatives, and members of the Rotary Club attended the programme. The event reaffirmed Tripura’s strong commitment to public health and its mission to create a healthier, TB-free society through compassion, collaboration, and community participation.
