Agartala, Oct 19 — To manage the anticipated surge of devotees during Diwali 2025, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced two special unreserved passenger trains to ensure smooth travel to key pilgrimage destinations in Tripura — the revered Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur and Dharmanagar in North Tripura.
In a press release issued on Sunday, the NFR stated, “The Lumding Division has decided to operate special trains 07615/07616 AGTL–DMR–AGTL and 07613/07614 AGTL–SBRM–AGTL to clear the extra rush of passengers during the festive season.”
Train No. 07615 and 07616 will operate between Agartala and Dharmanagar from October 20 to 22, 2025, while Train No. 07613 and 07614 will run between Agartala and Sabroom during the same period. These additional services aim to facilitate the movement of pilgrims and travellers during Diwali and Kali Puja celebrations across the state.
The initiative has been warmly welcomed by Tripura’s Tourism and Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, who expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for their continued commitment to improving the state’s railway connectivity and promoting religious tourism.
In a social media post, Minister Chowdhury stated, “The special trains will greatly benefit devotees visiting the Tripura Sundari Temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, and Dharmanagar, which is renowned for its grand Diwali and Kali Puja celebrations. This initiative reflects the government’s dedication to ensuring comfortable and safe travel for pilgrims.”
With the festive season marking one of Tripura’s busiest travel periods, the introduction of these special trains is expected to ease congestion and enhance accessibility for thousands of devotees and visitors across the state.
