President Droupadi Murmu, while addressing the joint sitting of Parliament at the commencement of the Budget Session, highlighted the significant developmental strides made by Tripura in recent years, drawing attention to key infrastructure and healthcare initiatives that are reshaping the state’s growth trajectory.
In her address, the President noted that Tripura’s capital has now been successfully connected through broad-gauge railway lines, a milestone that has accelerated the pace of development in the state. She emphasized that improved rail connectivity has not only strengthened links with the rest of the country but has also opened new avenues for tourism, trade, and employment opportunities for the people of Tripura. According to her, enhanced connectivity plays a crucial role in integrating the North-Eastern states into the national mainstream.
President Murmu also spoke about the ongoing construction of a specialized mother-and-child hospital in Agartala, terming it a transformative step for Tripura’s healthcare sector. She said the facility would usher in a new era of advanced medical services, particularly benefiting women and children, and significantly improving access to quality healthcare in the region. These initiatives, she added, reflect the government’s focus on inclusive development, modern infrastructure, and improved quality of life for citizens of the North-East.
Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharjee, who was present during the joint session, described the occasion as a moment of pride and honour. He remarked that the President’s address is a vital constitutional tradition that outlines the government’s vision, priorities, and roadmap for the nation’s future.
Expressing satisfaction over the mention of Tripura’s progress, Bhattacharjee said that hearing the President acknowledge the state’s development filled every resident of Tripura with immense pride. He praised the vision behind the ongoing projects and extended his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his consistent commitment to the development of Tripura and the entire North-Eastern region.
He further noted that the Budget Session plays a crucial role in shaping national policies and development goals, and witnessing such a significant democratic process was a deeply meaningful experience for him.
