Agartala, Jan 4: Three major conferences and conventions of the Hindu community were held across Tripura on Sunday, focusing on the preservation of cultural and traditional values among followers of the Sanatani schools of thought.

In Khowai, a day-long Hindu Sammelan was organised for the first time at the Khowai Airport ground by the Khowai Hindu Sammelan Organising Committee. The programme began at 11 am and was inaugurated by Mahant Yogi Rohtas Nath from Uttar Pradesh, who also delivered the keynote address. Nilmani Chakraborty, Organisation Minister of Vidya Bharati, Tripura Prant, attended as the chief guest, while Swami Asimananda Maharaj, head priest of Bharat Seva Sangh, Khowai, was present as a special guest. The event was presided over by organising committee president Mithu Debnath.

The event commenced with the ceremonial felicitation of guests, lighting of the lamp before the portrait of Bharat Mata, and chanting of Vedic hymns. Swami Asimananda Maharaj highlighted the need for unity among Hindus, while Nilmani Chakraborty spoke on collective strength. Mahant Yogi Rohtas Nath addressed concerns regarding alleged attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, demographic changes in several Indian states, and illegal infiltration into Tripura, Assam, and West Bengal. The programme included recitations from the Hanuman Chalisa and the Srimad Bhagavad Gita, cultural performances, and distribution of mahaprasad.

Meanwhile, the first-ever Hindu Malaima Conference was held at Gandacherra Higher Secondary School, bringing together sadhus, saints, and devotees from tribal and non-tribal communities. The conference featured cultural performances and a large yajna, with speakers stressing the importance of unity, religious values, and cultural preservation.

In Agartala, a day-long Hindu Samaj convention took place at Khudiram Basu English Medium School ground, organised by Hindu Sangathan Ayojok Samiti. Speakers, including Maharaj Buddhisattwanandji Maharaj and Professor Dr. Swapna Bhowmik, highlighted Hinduism’s ancient history, youth responsibilities, and the need for unity among Hindu organisations to safeguard cultural and religious values and foster social harmony.

These events collectively underscored the importance of cultural preservation, religious awareness, and communal solidarity among the Sanatani Hindu community in Tripura.
