Agartala, Sept 3:
In response to the alleged attack at the newly constructed MLA Hostel near the ILS Hospital complex in Agartala late Monday night, Member of Parliament and State BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee strongly condemned the incident and assured that the culprits will face strict legal action.
Speaking to the media, Bhattacharjee emphasized the prompt response of law enforcement agencies. Senior police officials, including the Director General of Police (DGP), rushed to the spot soon after the incident was reported. An FIR has already been filed, and investigations are underway to identify and arrest the accused.
“The safety and security of citizens are of utmost importance to our government,” Bhattacharjee said. He stressed that law and order remain the top priority of the administration and affirmed that the government will not tolerate such acts of intimidation, whether directed at elected representatives or the public.
According to reports, three intoxicated youths allegedly drove into the MLA Hostel premises and hurled abusive language and death threats at Kanchanpur’s Tipra Motha MLA, Philip Kumar Reang. The incident has raised serious concerns about security at key government establishments.
Bhattacharjee, however, highlighted that the overall law and order situation in Tripura remains peaceful. He pointed to the recent Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations across Agartala as an example. “Despite hundreds of organizers participating in Ganesh Puja this year, not a single untoward incident was reported. This reflects the peaceful environment prevailing in the state under the present government,” he said.
In the wake of the incident, a delegation of Tipra Motha MLAs called on Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha at the Secretariat to register their concerns and demand enhanced security measures. The Chief Minister has reportedly assured them that necessary steps will be taken to prevent such occurrences in the future.
The state government has reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and order across Tripura and ensuring the protection of all citizens, including elected representatives. The investigation is ongoing, and officials have assured that swift and decisive action will follow once the accused are apprehended.
