Agartala, June 21: In a significant step toward promoting voluntary blood donation and addressing emergency blood shortages, Tripura’s Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury inaugurated a mega blood donation camp in Agartala on Saturday. The camp was jointly organized by the Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Limited (TTDCL) and the Tripura AIDS Control Society.

Speaking at the event, Minister Chowdhury underscored the profound importance of blood donation as a humanitarian and social responsibility. Quoting the timeless saying, “One who loves living beings, serves God,” he emphasized that service to humanity is one of the highest forms of devotion. “Among the many noble ways to serve, blood donation stands out as a unique act of kindness and compassion that only human beings are capable of offering,” he noted.

The initiative, the minister said, aims to address the recurring blood shortages in hospitals and emergency care units across the state. While the government continues to implement various measures to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure, Chowdhury stressed the need for collective action. “It is not just the responsibility of the government. Private organizations, social institutions, and individuals must step forward to make blood donation a community-driven effort,” he added.

The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from volunteers, students, government employees, and members of civil society. Health officials and medical staff were present to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the donation process.

This mega camp is part of a broader strategy to create awareness about the importance of regular blood donation and to build a sustainable blood supply network in Tripura. The organizers also announced plans to hold similar camps in different parts of the state in the coming months to encourage widespread public involvement.
