The visit came amid escalating reports of unrest in several ADC areas, particularly Dayalpara and Bijoynagar, where incidents of arson, property damage, and forced displacement have been reported. According to accounts shared by local party workers, residences were targeted, vehicles damaged, and several families compelled to leave their homes due to fear and intimidation.

Among those affected was Mahamaya Debbarma, vice-president of Boxanagar Mandal, whose house was reportedly ransacked, forcing her family to abandon the locality. Similarly, the residence of Anil Debbarma, General Secretary of the Janajati Morcha in Sepahijala South district, was allegedly set on fire and severely damaged, leaving him and his family displaced.

During his visit, the Chief Minister interacted directly with victims in Bijoynagar and took stock of the situation on the ground. He assured affected families of financial assistance, rehabilitation support, and full administrative backing from the state government. “Democracy cannot coexist with violence and intimidation. Those responsible will face strict legal action, and no one will be spared,” he stated.

Although his planned visit to Dayalpara ADC area was cancelled due to security concerns following intelligence inputs about possible disturbances, the Chief Minister reviewed the situation with local officials and directed law enforcement agencies to strengthen security measures in sensitive zones.

He instructed the police administration to maintain heightened vigilance, increase patrolling, and ensure the safety of vulnerable families who have reportedly taken shelter in youth hostels or with relatives after being displaced.

The visit was also aimed at restoring confidence among party workers affected by the unrest. The Chief Minister’s assurance of rehabilitation and strict action against perpetrators highlighted the government’s intent to stabilize the situation, restore normalcy, and uphold democratic order in the affected regions.
