Following the assault, Satyabrata was rushed to the Dhalai District Hospital in Kulai. Due to his worsening condition, attending physicians subsequently referred him to the GBP Hospital in Agartala. Regrettably, he succumbed to his injuries at 9:30 pm.

The mother-in-law of the victim shared her perspective, explaining, “Last night, a family gathering was held at their residence in an attempt to resolve a longstanding dispute over their mother’s ownership of the ancestral land. Over the past three months, the victim’s mother had been living with the youngest brother in the family, and according to our knowledge, she was subjected to significant mistreatment by her other sons. What was meant to be a family reconciliation meeting took a horrific turn.”

According to her account, when Satyabrata questioned his brothers about their treatment of their mother, he was attacked by the younger brother, Mithu Chowdhury. “His older brother, Subrata Chowdhury, who was also present during the meeting, failed to intervene and prevent the enraged younger brother. The repeated blows from shovels and rods resulted in severe injuries that tragically led to his death,” she added.

Regarding the legal aspect of the incident, the mother-in-law mentioned that a case is currently in the process of being registered at the local police station.
