Agartala: Feb 10: A man was beaten to death by locals on suspicion of theft at Banshpadua Navodaya Vidyalaya in Belonia subdivision. The deceased, identified as Babul Mia, was thirty-five years old and resided in Muzaffar Colony area.

According to reports, Babul Mia went to Navodaya Vidyalaya with the intention of stealing. After being caught, he was subjected to a mob beating, which led to his death. The incident occurred on Sunday night. On Monday morning, around seven, the police arrived at the scene after receiving the news. They rescued Babul Mia and took him to Belonia Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

 

Family members of Babul Mia rushed to the spot upon hearing the news and were devastated by the incident. It is alleged that Babul Mia was caught red-handed while trying to enter the school by climbing the wall. The locals tied him up and beat him, leading to his death. The police believe that he died as a result of the public outrage.
