Man arrested with with a loaded firearm and two rounds of ammunition

Agartala: Nov 12: On Monday, the Amatali Police arrested a man named Balbir Singh, along with a loaded firearm and two rounds of ammunition, following a shooting incident in the Kolomchara area under the jurisdiction of Kolomchara Police Station. The victim, identified as Balbir’s wife, Kavita Riyan, was shot by him in the Kolomchara area, after which Balbir fled the scene.

Following the shooting, Balbir Singh fled to the nearby Badarghat area and eventually took refuge near the Hospital Chowmuhani locality. Acting on intelligence and a swift investigation, Amatali Police tracked him down and apprehended him at the Badarghat Hospital Chowmuhani area.

 

Kavita Riyan, who had been shot, was rushed to the Hapania Hospital for treatment and is currently undergoing medical care. The police have confirmed that the firearm used in the incident, along with two live rounds, was recovered from Balbir Singh during his arrest.

 

Balbir Singh, a resident of Hapania Kartik Chowmuhani under the Amatali Police Station’s jurisdiction, was immediately taken into police custody. Authorities have filed charges against him under relevant sections related to attempted murder, illegal possession of firearms, and other related offenses. Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the shooting, and further legal action will be taken based on the findings.

 

The case highlights growing concerns over illegal firearm possession and domestic violence in the region, as authorities work to ensure public safety and enforce the law.
