Agartala, April 1: Bimal Sarkar, a 35-year-old man who was apprehended for allegedly attempting to break into an ATM booth in the Usha Bazar area of the capital, has passed away under puzzling circumstances at GB Hospital in Agartala, Tripura, India.
According to family members, Bimal Sarkar had faced similar charges in the past, resulting in periodic arrests followed by bail from the court. His recent arrest occurred on Wednesday night, prompting the police to visit his residence in Lankamura and instruct the family to bring him to the police station the following day.
On Thursday, Bimal Sarkar was taken into custody at the Ramnagar police station and subsequently transported to jail as per the court’s order. However, his health deteriorated during the night, leading to his transfer from jail to the IGM Hospital.
The family received word from the police that Bimal Sarkar had undergone a CT scan at the hospital. The next day, they rushed to GB Hospital, where they discovered him unconscious.
In a desperate bid for his release, Bimal’s father sought bail, which was granted. Despite slight improvement in his condition, the attending doctor refused to allow him to return home.
Tragically, on Tuesday morning, Bimal Sarkar’s hand swelled after receiving a saline solution, and he subsequently passed away. The cause of death remains undisclosed, and the family alleges that neither the doctor nor the police have provided any clarity. Demanding a thorough investigation, they seek answers surrounding this mysterious demise.
