Agartala: July 10: In a significant development, Raju Burman, the main accused in the murder of Bharat Ratna Club Secretary Durga Prasanna Dev, has been apprehended by the Tripura police. The arrest took place in the Chatabari area under Bako police station this morning.
The incident occurred on the evening of April 30 when miscreants shot dead Durga Prasanna Dev, the current general secretary of the Bharat Ratna Sangh, at Banedi Club Usha Bazar in the capital. The fatal shooting took place in the Shalbagan area under the Bamutia Assembly. Dev sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was rushed to ILS Hospital, where he was declared brought dead by attending doctors.
Vicky’s family alleges that other club members were directly involved in the incident. His wife reported that he had gone out with their child to see a doctor that evening. Around 7 pm, she received a call from her husband, informing her that a person named Biman Das had sent a car to pick him up. Since then, his phone remained switched off. Subsequently, news broke that Vicky had been shot. His wife directly accused Raju Burman and Biman Das of the murder, prompting the police to initiate an investigation.
During the course of the investigation, three individuals were arrested by the airport police in connection with Durga Prasanna Dev’s murder. The arrested suspects include Pradyut Dhar Chowdhury, college student Sushmita Sarkar (22), and Sunny Saha. Pradyut Dhar Chowdhury had previously served as the committee president of the Bharat Ratna Sangh Club. Raju Burman, identified as the main perpetrator, was taken into custody by the police following the murder.
