Agartala October 11: A fish transshipment yard has been set up at Nagichra to bring the fish laden vehicles under proper management to keep Agartala city free from traffic jams and clean. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the newly constructed fish transport yard at Nagichhara at a cost of about 3.50 crore rupees. This fish transport yard was constructed with the financial support of Agartala Municipal Corporation and Urban Development Department.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said 67 percent of the state is under the forest department. So it is not possible to build a city just by wishing. Getting permission is difficult. Development should be done by excluding forest areas. Work started from 2017. But the current government has successfully done this work. Central and state governments are another name for development. The chief minister said that development is currently underway. The erstwhile government knew how to stay in power in a crooked way.
The present government works in a straight way by solving people’s problems. 100 tons of fish come from outside the state every day. They have good facilities for their stay in this yard. Locals will get employment opportunities. But the local people have to take the responsibility of keeping this service healthy and normal. Care should be taken to avoid any kind of disorder. Investors have expressed interest in cold storage. The Chief Minister directed the officials to take initiative in this matter quickly. The newly constructed fish yard at Nagichhara will have CCTV, security system, canteen, dining hall, meeting hall, 20 bedded room, and water system. In the past days, the market was left untidy due to the unloading of fish trucks in the market and caused traffic jams on the roads. An unhealthy environment is created. Keeping all this in mind, a site was identified in the suburbs of Agartala for the beautification of the city. Fish cars from outside the state will park at that place. After that, the fish will be taken to the city market by small cars as needed. Deputy Principal Ram Prasad Pal, Mayor Deepak Majumder, District Magistrate Dr. Bishal Kumar, Sub-Divisional Magistrate and others were present in the function organized on this day.
