Agartala, June 1: Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar received a warm welcome upon his arrival at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala on Sunday. State Power and Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath greeted the Union Minister on behalf of the Tripura government and welcomed him to the state.

Describing the visit as a significant occasion for Tripura, Nath said that the state was honored to host the Union Minister on the sacred land of Mata Tripura Sundari. He expressed confidence that Khattar’s visit would create new opportunities for strengthening the power sector and accelerating the state’s overall development.

Khattar’s visit to Tripura forms part of his three-day tour of the eastern and northeastern region, which also includes Mizoram and West Bengal. The visit underscores the Centre’s focus on enhancing infrastructure and development initiatives in the region.

Soon after his arrival, the Union Minister participated in programmes marking the sixth anniversary of the Prime Minister Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme. During the event, he interacted with beneficiaries from across the Northeastern states and reviewed the impact of the flagship scheme on improving the livelihoods of street vendors.

Later, Khattar held a series of meetings with senior officials of the Tripura government and the Power Department. Discussions focused on the status of power infrastructure projects, grid modernization initiatives, and ongoing rural electrification efforts aimed at ensuring reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply across the state.

Reviewing the progress of various power sector projects, the Union Minister emphasized the importance of strengthening energy infrastructure to meet growing demand and support economic growth.

State Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath highlighted that continued support from the Central Government would play a crucial role in improving power delivery systems and achieving Tripura’s long-term development goals. He expressed optimism that the visit would further strengthen cooperation between the Centre and the state.
