Agartala: Mar 20: India Bloc has formed a 25-member jumbo committee to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections in two constituencies in Tripura and the by-elections in Ramnagar assembly constituency. Opposition leader Jitendra Chowdhury and Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman are in charge of joint conveners in that committee. Announcing this at a press conference organized at the Agartala Press Club today, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman said that the India Block in Tripura will fight the elections with all its strength against the fascist forces. The people of Tripura will consider the situation of the country and the state, he said, expressing hope.

On this day, opposition leader Jitendra Chowdhury said that the joint campaign program of India Block in Tripura was discussed along with the formation of the committee. However, a more nuanced discussion is needed. Therefore, the committee will meet again on March 22 and outline the detailed program of the campaign. He also added that the candidate of India Block will submit nomination for the by-election in Ramnagar Assembly constituency on March 22. Besides, candidates for West Tripura constituency will file nominations on March 27 and candidates for East Tripura constituency on March 28.

Other leaders of India Bloc including PCC president Ashish Kumar Saha, former minister Manik Dey were present in the press conference on this day, apart from Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chowdhury and Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman. Sudip Roy Barman has once again launched an attack on the BJP today. According to him, there is a government of fraud, speculation and taking away democracy in the country and state. There is a game of breaking the government in various states through money and muscle power. Therefore, all political parties who believe in democracy have decided to unite and fight.

He claimed “we are entering the election fight by relying on people’s faith. His sarcasm, we will never say any political party will not get more than 1 lakh votes because we are not afraid. We cannot be cowed by threats. People’s democratic rights will be eroded, we will not sit quietly”.

He emphatically said, “We have formed an alliance to save the poor, hardworking working people, unemployed, farmers, government employees, pensioners, caste, people, peace, harmony, secularism and constitution.” We are united against the politics of pitting people against people. He said to the people of all the minority sections of the country, this country belongs to me, to all of you. We want to see all the people of the country united. That is why Rahul Gandhi has traveled across India for justice.

He firmly said that if the Indi alliance comes to power, there will be a caste census in the country. Division in the name of religion, caste and language will stop. Because this country belongs to everyone. So I request to all, make the India Bloc candidates win with huge votes in the two Lok Sabha constituencies in Tripura and in the by-elections in Ramnagar assembly constituency.

On this day, Sudip Roy Barman said that a committee of 25 members of India Block has been formed for the purpose of campaigning in Lok Sabha elections and by-elections in Ramnagar Assembly constituency. Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chowdhury and Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman are in charge of the joint conveners. Among others in that committee are Congress MLA Birjit Sinha, Congress MLA Gopal Roy, former minister Manik Dey, senior lawyer Pijush Kanti Biswas, Milan Vaidya, Deepak Dev, Paresh Sarkar, Partha Karmakar, Swapan Vanik, Ashok Debbarma, Dibachandra Rankhal, Jayant Dutta, Pradyot Majumder, Vikramjit Sengupta, Gopal Das, Narayan Kar, former vice-principal Pavitra Kar, former minister Naresh Jamatia, former ministers Ratan Bhowmik, Subrata Bhowmik, Anjan Shukla Vaidya, Praveen Singh and Shabd Kumar Jamatia.

He added that district and assembly based committees will also be formed. Because, India Bloc will fight against the fascist forces with all its strength. He hopes that the people of Tripura will consider proper justice. People of Tripura must consider the situation of the country and the state. In this gap, he single-handedly took the late Kishore Devavarman without naming him.

Sudeep’s sarcasm, people of Tripura don’t seem to know the identity of the candidate in East Tripura constituency. He was born and educated in Shillong. Then he is in Chhattisgarh due to marriage. Hence, voters in East Tripura constituencies must consider these issues while exercising their right to vote. He sarcastically told Pradyot that Tiprasa sold the caste and made his sister a candidate.

On this day, Jitendra Babu said that the meeting of the leaders of India Block was held today. In that meeting, the campaign committee was formed. According to him, the committee will meet again on March 22. The detailed outline of the campaign program till the elections will be determined. He claimed that although there was a discussion in today’s meeting, there is a need for a more smooth discussion. He said that India Block candidate Ratan Das will file his nomination papers on March 22 for the by-election in Ramnagar Assembly constituency. Meanwhile, West Tripura Lok Sabha candidate Ashish Kumar Saha will file his nomination papers on March 27 and East Tripura candidate Rajendra Riang on March 28.

He appealed to the administration to fulfill their responsibilities properly. He said ironically, we have witnessed the experience of various elections in the last six years. He hoped that the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and Assembly by-elections would be exceptional.
