Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu paid an important visit to the Regional Response Centre (RRC), Agartala, of the 1st Battalion National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) located at Gakul Nagar. The visit underscored the significance of disaster preparedness and response capabilities in a state like Tripura, which is prone to natural calamities such as floods, landslides and earthquakes.

Upon his arrival, the Governor was accorded a warm welcome by senior NDRF officials and briefed about the unit’s operations, achievements and ongoing preparedness activities. The NDRF team presented an overview of their specialised training modules, rescue equipment and rapid-response mechanisms designed to save lives during emergencies. Governor Nallu interacted with officers and personnel to understand the challenges they face in the field and the measures adopted to enhance efficiency and resilience.

During the visit, the Governor commended the NDRF for its exceptional commitment and professionalism. He praised the force for consistently standing at the forefront of disaster management across the country, often risking their own lives to protect others. Governor Nallu highlighted the crucial role played by the NDRF in strengthening community-based disaster preparedness and emphasised the need for continuous public awareness and training programmes in vulnerable regions.

He also appreciated the unit’s efforts in collaborating with local administration, police, fire services and civil society organisations to conduct mock drills, capacity-building workshops and quick-response exercises. The Governor noted that such coordinated efforts significantly enhance the state’s ability to manage disasters effectively and minimise loss of life and property.

The visit concluded with a demonstration by NDRF personnel showcasing rescue techniques and the use of advanced equipment. Governor Nallu assured full support from the Raj Bhavan and expressed confidence that the NDRF would continue its exemplary service with dedication and courage.
