Agartala: October 23:  A tragic incident at a local fair has resulted in the deaths of both a mobile phone seller and his attacker. The altercation, which began as a dispute over a transaction, escalated into violence, leading to the deaths of Harishankar Saha and Rahul Krishna Ray.

On October 15, a disagreement over a mobile phone transaction turned violent when Rahul Krishna Ray, a resident of Collegetila, attacked Harishankar Saha with a knife inside Saha’s shop. The incident, captured on camera by bystanders, showed Ray repeatedly stabbing Saha. Despite the presence of police at the scene, no immediate intervention occurred.

Following the attack, police arrested Ray, who was subsequently beaten by a mob. He sustained severe injuries, including a fractured ribcage and a damaged eye. Both Saha and Ray were initially taken to IGM Hospital and later transferred to GB Hospital due to the severity of their injuries. Saha succumbed to his injuries on October 17.

Rahul’s mother stated that the incident stemmed from a financial dispute involving an advance payment of 80,000 rupees for a laptop that was never delivered. She also mentioned that her son was mentally unstable and undergoing treatment. She has called for justice, condemning the mob violence that led to her son’s death and urging authorities to take action against those involved.

The police have launched an investigation but have not yet made any arrests related to the mob beating. With the deaths of both the victim and the accused, the case has taken a new direction, and authorities are expected to intensify their efforts to bring those responsible to justice.
