Agartala: Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy today urged the banking institutions operating in the state to support individuals with entrepreneurial aspirations, ensuring that they can pursue their dreams without being hindered by a lack of initial capital for their business ventures. Speaking during a lecture session as part of Vigilance Awareness Week at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala, Minister Roy emphasized the reliability of banks as transparent organizations that people can turn to in times of need. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for revolutionizing the role of banks in reaching out to the public, highlighting the Jan Dhan bank accounts that extended banking services to the farthest corners of the country and became a vital channel for providing assistance to families during the global pandemic.
Minister Roy stressed the pivotal role that banks have played in supporting the community and called upon them to facilitate the establishment of new businesses. He noted the abundant natural resources in Tripura, which have the potential to serve as a significant economic foundation for the state. The state currently generates approximately Rs 1,400 crore from its exports and ranks as the second-largest producer of rubber. Additionally, bamboo, an underutilized commercial resource, holds great promise. Roy underscored the importance of adding value to local products, envisioning a transformative impact on the state’s economy.
The Minister also acknowledged the advancements and self-reliance achieved under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He cited the example of India’s growing capacity to build metro systems without foreign supervision, symbolizing the nation’s engineering prowess. Furthermore, he highlighted India’s increasing prominence on the global stage, exemplified by its participation in the recent G-20 summit.
