Heavy Rains Cause Disruption and Landslides in Agartala

Agartala: June 18: Agartala city has been experiencing continuous rainfall since the afternoon, leading to significant disruptions. A landslide near Saika Bari on the Kumar Ghat-Kamalpur road has resulted in a complete halt of the communication system on this route. The Meteorological Department has reported that as of 4 pm today, Kamalpur recorded the highest rainfall at 139 mm, while Amarpur recorded the lowest at 1.0 mm.

In response to the severe weather conditions, a red alert for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms has been issued for Dhalai, North Tripura, and Unakoti districts over the next 24 hours. A yellow alert is also in place for Khowai and West Tripura districts.

The persistent downpour has affected public life broadly, with today’s maximum temperature reaching 32.5 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 27.2 degrees Celsius. Rainfall has been recorded across various districts, with notable measurements including 60.5 mm in Agartala and 139 mm in Kamalpur.
