According to reports, four men, who were brothers-in-law of Karmakar’s wife, had gone to his house for a dinner invitation on Saturday night. While they were being served food around midnight, a group of miscreants began knocking on the door. When Karmakar’s wife opened the door, the miscreants barged in, shouting, “Where is the girl?” When Jayanta Chakraborty asked, “Whose girl?”, the miscreants started beating them and vandalizing the house. The incident left the occupants seriously injured. Two of the attackers were reportedly wearing police uniforms.

The city control was informed, and the injured were rescued and taken to GB Hospital. On Sunday, Jayanta Chakraborty filed a complaint at the NCC police station, stating that the miscreants had stolen two mobile phones. One of the accused was identified as Sunny, a neighbor of Karmakar. The attackers are allegedly supporters of the ruling party. The incident is under investigation to determine the motive behind the attack.
