Agartala, July 22: The surrendered faction of the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, urging immediate implementation of the Tripartite Peace Accord signed on September 4, 2024.

NLFT president Prasenjit Debbarma alleged that nearly two years after the agreement, most surrendered cadres are yet to receive the rehabilitation benefits promised under the accord. He claimed that around 90 per cent of the surrendered members continue to be deprived of government assistance and are living in uncertainty.

Debbarma also alleged that the special economic development package promised under the agreement has not been launched. Further, he said committees constituted under Clause 26 of the accord, including the Empowered Implementation and Monitoring Committee (EIMC), State Level Executive Committee (SLEC) and Joint Working Group Committee (JWGC), do not include representatives of NLFT (ORI) and All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) returnees, which he termed a violation of the accord.

In its memorandum, the organisation demanded the inclusion of NLFT and ATTF representatives in all implementation committees and sought recognition of NLFT (ORI) returnee leaders as Governor-nominated Members of the District Council (MDCs) in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

The group also called for time-bound implementation of all provisions of the peace accord, allocation of land to landless Tiprasa families for agriculture and livelihood, recruitment of eligible Tiprasa youth in state and central government departments and paramilitary forces, including the Assam Rifles, BSF and CRPF, and immediate recognition and rehabilitation of all surrendered members of NLFT (ORI), NLFT (PD) and ATTF.

The organisation said repeated representations to the authorities have yielded no response and appealed to the Governor to ensure early implementation of the accord, warning that continued delays could undermine confidence in the peace process.
