A special programme was organised at Vidyajyoti Higher Secondary School in Boxanagar on Sunday to mark the 133rd edition of Mann Ki Baat by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu attended the event and listened to the broadcast alongside students and local officials.

The Governor was welcomed with ফুলers and a traditional scarf by local MLA Tafazzal Hossain upon his arrival at around 10:45 a.m. The programme commenced with the National Anthem, followed by active participation from a large number of students. Several senior officials were present, including the Additional District Magistrate of Sepahijala, District Police Officer Vijay Debbarma, Director of Education representatives, Boxanagar Panchayat Samiti members, Block Officer Sandeep Kumar Pal, and Headmistress Yashoda Chettri.

During the broadcast, the Prime Minister highlighted Tripura’s traditional bamboo cottage industry, praising the craftsmanship of local artisans. He noted that bamboo products from the state are increasingly gaining recognition across India, including in cities such as Mumbai and Delhi. He also encouraged artisans to explore global markets and expand their reach internationally. Attendees described the mention of Tripura as a proud and inspiring moment.

Speaking after the programme, Governor Nallu said, “Today we heard Tripura’s glory from the Prime Minister himself. Truly, Tripura’s bamboo industry is on the path to global success.” He later interacted with students, extending his best wishes for their health, education, and future.

Following the event, the Governor visited the historic Buddhist Stupa site in Boxanagar, a prominent archaeological and tourism landmark spread over nearly two hectares. The site, which houses three ancient monuments, was excavated between 2002 and 2010 and has since gained recognition on the international tourism map. A guest house worth nearly Rs 5 crore has also been developed by the Tourism Department to support visitors.

Addressing reporters, Governor Nallu expressed his commitment to further developing the site. He said that with focused efforts, the location could emerge as a major tourist destination, generating employment opportunities for local youth and boosting the region’s economy.
