Agartala: Sept 06: The State government has allocated Rs 1.54 crore from the Home Department to the District Magistrate of Dhalai district for the relief and rehabilitation of families affected by the violence in Gandatuisa on July 7, 2024, during the 30-card Anandamela festival. An additional Rs 2 lakh has been provided from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Of the Home Department’s allocation, Rs 1.12 crore has already been distributed to the affected families. Furthermore, an additional Rs 2.30 crore has been sanctioned from the Revenue Department and sent to the District Magistrate of Dhalai.
Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha disclosed this while responding to a calling attention motion in the Assembly session. The motion, brought by MLAs Sudeep Sarkar and Nayan Sarkar, addressed the recent incident in Gandatuisa where an innocent youth was murdered, and over 150 houses and shops were attacked, looted, and set on fire.
In response, Chief Minister Saha announced a Rs 239.10 crore project for the construction, repair, and infrastructure development of various markets, roads, hospitals, schools, and cold storages in the affected Gandatuisa subdivision.
The Chief Minister informed the Assembly that Rs 177.50 crore will be spent on four roads in the Gandatuisa subdivision. Rs 24.20 crore will be allocated for the development of the Gandatuisa subdivision hospital. Additionally, Rs 8 crore has been allocated for the construction of cold storage and the renovation of Dumbur Lake for cage farming. Rs 8 crore will be used for the development of badminton and football grounds, Rs 2.10 crore for the construction and renovation of market stalls, Rs 5 crore for the development of schools, Rs 3 crore for the construction of solar-powered cold storage for mango farmers in Raisya Bari, Rs 1.30 crore for the construction of pucca buildings for 10 Anganwadi centers, and Rs 10 lakh for installing CCTV cameras in the Gandatuisa market area.
Under this project, Rs 1 crore for the construction of 30 market stalls in Narayanpur market and Rs 1 crore for the renovation and development of Dasharam Chaudhury Super Market have already been allocated to the District Magistrate of Dhalai by the Revenue Department. Instructions have been given for the speedy implementation of these projects.
The Chief Minister also informed that financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh has been provided to the family of the deceased Parmeshwar Riang. A total relief of Rs 3.45 crore has been given to 146 affected families. The Chief Minister mentioned that he visited Gandatuisa on August 4 with the Chief Secretary of the state. Additionally, the General Administration arranged shelter for the displaced people, and necessary security measures were implemented by the police.
