The two minor girls, hailing from Ambasa and Khumlung, were abducted and subjected to brutal torture by the seven assailants. Fortunately, local residents witnessed the heinous act and promptly handed over the traumatized minors to their families. The victim from Ambasa is currently receiving medical treatment at the Dhalai District Hospital.

On behalf of the victims’ families, a written complaint was filed against the seven perpetrators at the Srinagar police station. The police have registered a case under the Indian Penal Code section 376(D) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Two minor boys from the tribal community were arrested on Tuesday night. Additionally, a youth named Ajia Debbarma from the Jarulbachai Dukhiyakubra area was also apprehended. However, due to legal complexities, the two minor boys were not immediately brought into custody. Ajia Debbarma has reportedly confessed to his involvement in the crime, while the other two minors are currently being interrogated at the police station. Authorities believe that a total of seven individuals were part of this horrific incident.

Ajia Debbarma is scheduled to appear before the West District and Sessions Judge Court today. Calls for exemplary punishment for the accused are echoing from all quarters.

This tragic event underscores the urgent need for swift justice and stringent measures to prevent such atrocities in the future.
