Gang of six notorious thieves arrested

A gang of six notorious thieves that is response for a series of robberies in the Sabroom town was finally tracked down by the police. Police sources said, so far six persons had been arrested in connection with the robberies they had successfully conducted.

Sabroom: A gang of six notorious thieves that is response for a series of robberies in the Sabroom town was finally tracked down by the police. Police sources said, so far six persons had been arrested in connection with the robberies they had successfully conducted.

“Five of them were arrested from Sabroom Nama Para while the remaining partner of the gang was arrested from Kathalcharri. All of them had been produced before the Court on yesterday”, said a police official.

Sharing further details of the case, the police official said, “For the last one year, a gang of thieves had snatched the sleep of people. In the dark of night they strike and go elusive before the dawn. Even as they had carried out the thefts in the Sabroom municipal area primarily, the modus operandi of thefts indicated that they had carried out operations in other parts of the South Tripura District as well”.

Police succeeded in getting the breakthrough after a daring theft at Sabroom DWS office from where several expensive batteries were stolen. A police complaint was filed with the local police station that led to the arrests.

After arrest, the police could also seize materials like an auto, bicycle, mobile phones that were used while stealing goods. Police official said, “The Court had heard the police prayer for remand but granted them jail custody till November 06. The Court will once again hear the petition on October 06 next”.
