Agartala: August 25: Late on Wednesday night, floodwaters began to rise in the Indranagar area of the capital, eventually entering people’s homes. As dawn broke, residents were heard screaming and shouting for help. Despite the urgency, the administration’s rescue team had not yet reached the area. Many people began to leave their homes and seek refuge in relief camps. The flow of water in Indranagar was so strong that leaving the house became a daunting task.
In the midst of this chaos, Chiranjit Dey from Indranagar displayed remarkable courage by jumping into the raging waters to save people. He managed to rescue many individuals at the risk of his own life. Tragically, after saving several people, Chiranjit was swept away by the strong current during another rescue attempt. On Friday morning, his body was found far from the scene of the incident. The police recovered the body and sent it to GB Hospital for an autopsy, after which it was handed over to his family.
