Candidates who successfully cleared various stages of the Tripura Fire and Emergency Services (TFES) recruitment process have voiced strong dissatisfaction over the prolonged delay in appointments, claiming that the recruitment exercise remains incomplete even after nearly five years.

According to the aspirants, the recruitment process began with the issuance of a notification in 2022. Physical efficiency tests were subsequently conducted across all eight districts of Tripura, followed by a written examination held on January 8, 2023.

However, instead of announcing the results, authorities reportedly issued a newspaper notification on June 4, 2025, informing candidates that the examination had been cancelled due to serious discrepancies in the question paper or evaluation process. Consequently, the recruitment process had to be restarted, causing significant disappointment among thousands of applicants.

A fresh written examination was later conducted on December 14, 2025. Candidates who had already cleared earlier stages once again prepared for and appeared in the test. The results, declared in January 2026, revealed that 1,416 candidates had qualified for the post of Fireman, while 16 candidates cleared the examination for the post of Driver.

The successful candidates said they expected the next stage—the viva-voce or interview—to be conducted shortly after the publication of the results. However, more than five months have passed without any official notification regarding the interview schedule.

Candidates alleged that repeated attempts to obtain information from TFES officials have yielded conflicting responses. While some officials reportedly cited pending approval from the Finance Department, others attributed the delay to a shortage of funds or the absence of clearance from higher authorities.

The uncertainty surrounding the recruitment process has caused growing frustration among the candidates, many of whom have been waiting for years for the process to conclude.

Appealing directly to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, the candidates have urged the state government to intervene and expedite the remaining stages of recruitment. They have called for the immediate conduct of interviews and issuance of appointment letters to deserving candidates without further delay.
