In the aftermath of the horrific child murder in Nadiapur village under Churaibari police station, the family of Nonigopal Singh (43) has come forward to assert his innocence, presenting bank CCTV footage as evidence to support their claim.
Police had initially arrested Madan Gopal Sinha (57) and later Tapas Sinha (38) based on the testimony of Bijoya Sinha (28), who survived the brutal attack. Soon after, police detained Nonigopal Singh of Govindpur Panchayat’s Ward No. 6 for interrogation in connection with the case.
During questioning, investigators discovered that at the time of the murder, Nonigopal was at Kalachara Gramin Bank, accompanied by a cashier from the Prabhati SHG group, to withdraw loan funds. CCTV surveillance from inside the bank confirmed his presence there during the crucial time frame. Based on this evidence, police released him from custody.
Speaking to the media, Nonigopal reiterated that he had no involvement in the crime, stating that the bank’s CCTV footage conclusively proves his alibi. His family, devastated by the killing of eight-year-old Amrit Sinha, expressed outrage and grief. They demanded strict punishment for the real culprits, urging the authorities to ensure justice through the harshest penalties, including capital punishment.
Police officials confirmed that CCTV evidence clearly establishes that Nonigopal was not at the crime scene. However, they stressed that the investigation is still active and ongoing. With multiple angles being examined, officers indicated that more details and developments are expected as the probe progresses.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the region, with residents demanding swift justice for the young victim while awaiting further updates from law enforcement.
