Agartala, Sept 05: A heated discussion erupted in the Tripura Assembly over the significant shortage of faculty members in higher educational institutions across the state.
Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha informed the house that the government is working to fill 211 vacant faculty positions, with the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) initiating the process for 75 positions and the Finance Department approving funding for another 126 positions.
Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chowdhury expressed concern about the student-teacher ratio and the impact of these vacancies on education quality, questioning the government’s strategy to address the issue.
