Agartala: Tripura Pradesh BJP President Rajib Bhattacharjee on Saturday urged the society to play a vital role in order to break the chain of drug trafficking in the state and said that the government has made up its mind that there would be no relief for the drug kingpins irrespective of their social influence and background.
“Let me clarify the doubts hovering over the minds of people. The police can never bring a lasting solution to the drug menace that is spreading like a wildfire in our society. The whole generation is getting affected by the drugs. Children from our house who are at the formative stage of their career are falling prey to this vicious nexus and get lost into the abyss of drugs. To prevent the devastation caused by drugs, we have to take swift and timely action. Each one of us has to contribute his bit to get the drug traffickers arrested. If you have any lead share it with cops as sitting idle at home will make the work of the law enforcement agencies tougher”, Bhattacharjee told a gathering to mark the blood donation camp organized by vegetable wholesalers of Maharaj Ganja Bazar.
He said, “Your identity will be kept a secret. The social organization, police and the whole community will stand for your protection if you take action against the criminals involved in such illicit activities”. The senior BJP leader also hailed the organizers of the event for their noble efforts. “Blood donation is celebrated all across the state as a festival. With the onset of Devi Paksha, this initiative will certainly reflects the humane face of the vegetable vendors of Maharajganja Bazar”, he added.
Mayor Dipak Majumder who was also present at the event, announced a major plan for renovation of the Maharajganja market. “All of us are aware of the fact that Maharajganja Bazar is the biggest market of the state. People from all corners of the state come here to do business. AMC has rolled out a comprehensive plan for facelift of all the markets that fall under its jurisdiction. Very shortly, we shall engage in talks with the local traders and based on their feedback draw up the detailed project plan”, said Majumder. AMC chairperson for Central Zone Ratna Datta was also present.
