Agartala, March 9: Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma on Monday visited the Ananda Roaja ST Boys’ and Girls’ Hostel in Gandatwisa subdivision, where he interacted with students, reviewed facilities and shared a meal with the residents. The Minister described the visit as a deeply inspiring experience and emphasized that the dreams and aspirations of the younger generation represent the future strength of the tribal community.

During his interaction with the students, Debbarma highlighted the transformative power of education and urged them to remain committed to their studies and personal growth.

“I have always believed that education is the greatest force that can change a person’s life. In the past, many children from our tribal society were deprived of education for various reasons. But times have changed. If our boys and girls are enlightened with the light of education, they will not only build their own future but also guide the entire society towards a new direction,” he told the students.

The Minister spent time interacting with the hostel residents and enquired about their studies, daily routines and overall well-being. He also inspected the hostel premises, focusing particularly on the study environment and the quality of food being provided to the students.

Sharing lunch with the hostel residents, Debbarma said the gesture was meant to help him understand firsthand the facilities available to the students and the conditions in which they live and study. He stressed that ensuring a healthy, safe and supportive environment for students staying in hostels is a shared responsibility of the government, hostel authorities and the wider community.

The Minister reiterated that education remains the strongest foundation for the overall development and empowerment of the tribal community. He said the government is committed to expanding access to education in remote and tribal areas so that no child is left behind due to geographical or economic barriers.

“Our primary goal is to ensure that every child in remote areas receives proper educational opportunities. We want to make the path to fulfilling their dreams easier and provide them with the support they need to succeed,” he said.

Debbarma also expressed his determination to continue working towards strengthening educational infrastructure and support systems for tribal students across the state.

“I want to continue working with this sense of responsibility so that our new generation grows more confident, educated and capable of leading society forward,” he added.

The Minister’s visit was warmly welcomed by the hostel community. Students and teachers expressed appreciation for his interaction and encouragement, saying such initiatives motivate young learners and reinforce the importance of education in shaping a brighter future for tribal society.
