Agartala: Dec 12: A mosque in Dimatali under Belonia sub-division of South district has recently been claimed by an organization called Hindu Suraksha Manch as Puratan Jagannath Mandir. People of a part of the state are trying to destroy the harmony based on this issue. Therefore, CPIM State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury demanded the intervention of the Chief Minister to maintain peace and order in the state.
Chowdhury said in a press conference that on December 10, in a function organized at Rajnagar Dimatali, the chief minister of the present state, Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, gave a small memorial with the inscription of old Jagannath temple under the picture of that mosque. The Chief Minister also accepted it. It has created wounds in the minds of the people of the minority community. He claimed that the people of a part of the state are trying to ignite the conflict.
He complained that the people of the minority community are being prevented from praying in that mosque. So the police have placed a barricade outside the mosque. In Tripura, police are preventing prayers in mosques. It is trying to give a kind of religious tickle. So he demanded the Chief Minister’s intervention soon in this matter.
