Agartala: May 10: On April 30, Sushmita Sarkar and Pradyut Dhar Chowdhury, both accused in the shooting and killing of Bharat Ratna Sangh Club secretary Durga Prasanna Dev in the Hatipara area of Shalbagan, faced further legal proceedings. Lawyer Shankar Lodh, representing the Chief Judicial Court and Civil Court, provided insights into the case.
According to police investigations, Pradyut Dhar Chowdhury made over two hundred phone calls in the past two months. The reason behind this extensive communication remains unclear. Consequently, Pradyut Dhar Chowdhury has been remanded to police custody for six days.
Meanwhile, Sushmita Sarkar, who allegedly held a meeting with Durga on April 27 and 28, has not disclosed the identities of other attendees. As a result, the court extended her police remand by an additional eight days.
In a related development, another accused, Akash Kar, apprehended in Jharkhand, is scheduled to be brought to the state next Saturday. Lawyer Shankar Lodh confirmed that the police are actively coordinating his transfer for further legal proceedings.
The case continues to unfold as authorities work diligently to bring all involved parties to justice.
