Recalling the historic significance of January 26, the Chief Minister said the adoption of the Constitution in 1950 marked a defining moment in the nation’s journey, laying the foundation for a strong, inclusive and democratic India. He noted that the Constitution guarantees fundamental rights such as freedom of religion, justice, equality, security and peaceful coexistence among people belonging to diverse languages, cultures and communities. “The Constitution is the guiding force behind our democratic system and national unity,” he said.

Dr Saha observed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, democracy in the country has been further strengthened through a clear focus on good governance, transparency and inclusive development. He said that initiatives aimed at social security, infrastructure growth and economic empowerment have ensured that the benefits of development reach the last mile.

The Chief Minister stated that the Tripura government is working in close coordination with the Centre to maintain law and order, strengthen public service delivery and implement welfare schemes effectively. He added that the state remains committed to people-centric governance and balanced development across urban and rural areas.

Dr Saha also congratulated eminent litterateur and educationist Naresh Chandra Dev Varma from the indigenous community on being selected for the Padma Shri Award for 2026, describing the honour as a moment of pride for Tripura. He said the recognition reflects the rich literary and cultural contribution of the state to the nation.

Extending warm Republic Day greetings to the people of Tripura and the country, the Chief Minister urged citizens to actively participate in nation-building. He called upon all sections of society to work collectively towards achieving the goals of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Viksit Tripura 2047, reaffirming the state’s commitment to progress rooted in constitutional values.
