Agartala: February 18: Congress leaders and workers staged a protest in front of the income tax office at Agartala on Saturday, voicing their discontent over the freezing of the party’s bank accounts.

Prabir Chakraborty, the spokesperson for the Pradesh Congress, alleged that the Modi government orchestrated the freezing of the Congress’s bank accounts as part of a conspiracy ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. He emphasized that no government since independence has ever taken such a step against an opposition party. According to Chakraborty, this move by the central government aims to financially weaken the Congress in the run-up to the elections.
