Agartala, June 14: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha once again drew the attention of the central government for the interest of the students of the state who want to pursue higher education.
This time the Chief Minister has written to the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan requesting to increase the number of centers for sitting at the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) in the state.
As a pledge to provide better education to the children of the state, the Chief Minister requested for the increase of more examination centers in the state.
The move to request additional examination centers aligns with the Tripura government’s commitment to improving educational opportunities and accessibility for its residents.
In the letter the Chief Minister has conveyed his gratitude for devising the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for the Post Graduate aspirants in the country as this initiative will definitely bring more transparency in the process.
“However, it is felt that the number of allotted examination centres by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in connection to the CUET for the State of Tripura is inadequate. There are about 6,000 aspirants in the State, but only 3 centres have been allotted. Due to this, majority of the aspirants are forced to travel outside the State to attempt the examination. Moreover, it is to mention here that adequate number of centres with sufficient infrastructure is available in the State to arrange such type of competitive examinations. Many examination centres of the State are being utilized for conducting other National level examinations”, the CM said.
He further said that in view of this, the State has already requested the Department of Higher Education from the Ministry of Education to increase the number of centres in the State for the CUET aspirants, considering their socio-economic condition and the geographical bottleneck faced by the State.
“Now, it is again requested to kindly look into the issue sympathetically and allot sufficient number of examination halls for the CUET aspirants of the State”, said the CM.
