CM emphasizes budget’s comprehensive approach

Agartala: Mar 01: In a significant development, the Legislative Assembly of Tripura unveiled its budget proposal for the financial year 2024-25 today. The budget, characterized as people-oriented, future-oriented, and development-focused, underscores the state government’s commitment to holistic progress.

Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, while sharing his insights from the office chamber within the Legislative Assembly, emphasized the budget’s comprehensive approach. It prioritizes every sector of the state, ensuring that no segment is overlooked.

The Finance Minister presented a total budget of ₹27,804.67 crore for the upcoming fiscal year. This figure reflects an 11.55% increase in state’s own revenue tax compared to the previous year’s budget.

The estimated capital expenditure stands at ₹6,633.80 crore, marking a substantial 23.80% surge from the previous year’s allocation.

A significant provision of ₹1,726.23 crore has been earmarked for health-related initiatives.

The budget allocates ₹1,721.94 crore, representing a 19.88% increase over the 2023-24 budget.

An allocation of ₹5,508.63 crore has been made, reflecting an 11.54% rise from the previous year.

The proposal includes the establishment of two agricultural sub-divisions—one in Yubarajnagar (North Tripura) and another in Puratan Agartala (West Tripura).

The creation of a Residue Testing Lab and a Germ Plasma Preservation Center at the State Agricultural Research Center, Arundhutinagar, aims to enhance agricultural practices. Infrastructure: 21 secondary schools will benefit from new buildings. Higher Education: The establishment of Mata Tripurasundari Open University in Udaipur will expand educational opportunities.

A 200-bed multi-care health unit is slated for establishment at the IGM and GB Hospital complex.

The budget reflects the state government’s vision for an inclusive, progressive, and resilient Tripura, addressing the diverse needs of its citizens across various domains.
