Agartala: Feb 20: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expressed concern over road accidents while addressing a function organized on the occasion of 35th Road Safety Month 2024 at Swami Vivekananda Maidan in the capital. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. In the speech of the chief guest, Manik Saha said that 1 lakh 68 thousand people died in road accidents in the country last year.

More than 400,000 people were seriously injured. A review of the statistics shows that youth between the ages of 18 and 35 are more prone to road accidents. The state police department has decided to take appropriate measures to reduce accidents where accidents often occur. The government is working with the goal of reducing the number of deaths due to road accidents to zero. Drivers should be careful for that. Awareness is the only way to prevent road accidents.

 

He also said that the Prime Minister of the country has given due importance to road safety. He changed the law for this. The chief minister also said that the prime minister has decided to build more than 1,000 rest houses for long-distance drivers. So that long distance drivers can rest. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that rest houses will also be built for drivers in Tripura state. The chief minister said on the occasion. Apart from Manik Saha, Minister Sushant Chowdhury, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumder and other officials of the department were present.
