Agartala, September 10: Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha has issued a strong warning against extortion in the name of Durga Puja and attacks on journalists. Speaking to the media on Tuesday, he emphasized that strict legal action will be taken immediately upon receiving any complaints of extortion. He also assured that attacks on journalists will be dealt with severely, with police instructed to take swift action against those involved in the recent incident in the East Police Station area.

Allegations of extortion have surfaced from various parts of the state ahead of the upcoming Sharad Utsav, particularly in the aftermath of recent floods. Reports indicate that money is being forcibly collected by stopping vehicles at various points on national highways. Additionally, four journalists were attacked by a group of miscreants in the East Police Station area late Sunday night.
