Agartala: Jan 20: The official inauguration of the “Purvottar Adi Bazar” was held on Monday at the Purvashar Urban Hat Complex on Jail Road in the capital city. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha graced the event, where he lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the beginning of the occasion. During his speech, Chief Minister Dr. Saha reflected on the significant progress of the Northeast region in recent years, particularly with regard to the development of Tripura.
He recalled the North Eastern Council (NEC) plenary session that was held in Tripura a few years ago and emphasized the challenges involved in organizing such events. The Chief Minister noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the Northeast region the title of “Ashtalakshmi,” signifying its importance. He asserted that in the future, India’s economy will be heavily reliant on the Northeast, which has vast potential in various sectors. However, he pointed out that the region was previously overlooked. With the introduction of the “Act East Policy” by Prime Minister Modi, there has been a noticeable transformation in the region, with continuous progress in all the states of the Northeast.
Dr. Saha also highlighted the various initiatives taken by the current government, such as renaming the Agartala Airport after Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur and launching several projects to improve the lives of indigenous communities. He emphasized that the government is focused on the development of the “last person,” referring to the most marginalized in society. The government, he said, is working closely with organizations like TRIFED and MARKFED to ensure the upliftment of tribal communities.
The event was also attended by Minister Shukla Charan Noatia, MLA Deepak Majumdar, and the Chairman of MARKFED, among others. After the inauguration, the Chief Minister and other dignitaries visited various stalls at the Purvottar Adi Bazar, which will be open for 10 days.
