Cashless service also started in transport department

Agartala, November 7: Driven by the slogan of Digital India, cashless services have also been launched in Tripura’s transport department from today. The minister-in-charge of the department, Sushanta Chowdhury, started the journey of the service virtually across the state.

Today, a virtual auspicious opening was held in the secretariat with the district governors, sub-divisional governors and beneficiaries of the eight districts of the state. Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said this in a press conference at the Secretariat.

On this day, he said, cashless service has been launched in various departments of the state as well as in the transport department. The main objective of the government is to bring transparency in the administrative system across the state by streamlining cashless services. He said that from now on, transactions in the transport department will be done in cashless mode.

According to him, the transport department has played an important role in the payment of revenue tax in the past financial year. In the financial year 2022-23, 115 crores 63 lakhs have been deposited in the treasury of the state government. He claimed that the Transport Department has taken the target of depositing Rs 125 crore in the treasury of the state government in the coming days.

 

He claimed that in the financial year 2021-22, the transport department has deposited 92.83 million rupees in the treasury of the state government. Similarly, 2020-21 Transport Department has paid 87 crore 93 lakhs to the treasury of the state government. 73 crore 87 lakh rupees have been deposited in the treasury of the state government till the month of October of the current financial year.
