Agartala: August 08: Former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee passed away this morning. Tripura Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, MP Biplab Kumar Deb, former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, and Transport Minister Sushant Chowdhury have expressed deep sorrow over his demise.

Tripura Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha took to social media to express his condolences, highlighting Bhattacharjee’s long association with West Bengal politics and his roles in various ministerial capacities, including as Chief Minister. He noted that West Bengal has lost an experienced and distinguished leader.

MP Biplab Kumar Deb also expressed his sorrow, stating that he was saddened and heartbroken by Bhattacharjee’s passing and prayed for the eternal peace of his soul.

Transport Minister Sushant Chowdhury shared his condolences on social media, recalling Bhattacharjee’s tenure as Chief Minister of West Bengal from 2000 to 2011. He extended his sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul’s peace.

Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar expressed his grief, paying tribute to Bhattacharjee’s significant role in West Bengal’s political landscape. He acknowledged Bhattacharjee’s contributions as a youth leader, communist leader, and Chief Minister, noting that his demise marks the end of a chapter in the communist and left democratic movement in West Bengal. Sarkar expressed confidence that the movement would overcome this void through unity and struggle, and that Bhattacharjee’s memory would remain memorable and immortal.
