Agartala: June 4, 2024 — In a notable political development, 19 voters, including the ruling party BJP’s Panchayat Pradhan and her husband, have switched their allegiance to the Congress. The joining ceremony took place at Ward No. 3 in Tapan Shiva’s house within the Aravindnagar Panchayat.

Rajya Pradesh Congress Secretary Jaydev Burman, District Congress Secretary Arafat Iqbal, and Vishalgarh Block Congress President Dilip Chowdhury warmly welcomed the new members. Among those joining were Aravindnagar Panchayat’s two-time Panchayat Pradhan, Meera Debnath, and her husband, Sanju Debnath. Notably, the couple had previously served as booth presidents in Ward No. 4 of Aravind Nagar Panchayat in 2014 and were subsequently elected as members of the District OBC Morcha.
