Ratan Lal Nath has expressed strong confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to secure a decisive mandate in West Bengal, citing what he described as growing support among government employees and women voters.

Speaking to reporters, Nath stated that a political change in West Bengal appears inevitable this time. He said, “This time it is clear that change will occur in West Bengal. Employees and women will cast their votes for BJP, and people will vote to protect Bengal,” adding that public sentiment is increasingly in favour of the party.

The minister is currently serving as an election observer for the Shyampukur and Jorasanko constituencies in Kolkata. During his visit, he highlighted the candidature of BJP nominee Purnima Chakraborty, describing her as “young, energetic, and well-liked among the masses.” He further expressed confidence that the party would secure a comfortable victory margin in Shyampukur, which comprises 221 polling stations spread across three organisational mandals.

Nath also praised the role of the Election Commission of India, stating that the current electoral process is being conducted in a free, fair, and peaceful manner across most polling areas. He contrasted the present situation with earlier periods, alleging that decades of governance under the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Trinamool Congress had resulted in corruption, mismanagement, and stalled development in the state.

Reflecting on the BJP’s electoral journey in West Bengal, Nath pointed out that the party held only three seats before 2021. However, he claimed that its vote share has since grown significantly, rising by nearly 77 percent, indicating a steady expansion of public support. He further asserted that the upcoming results would strengthen the BJP’s presence in Kolkata, where the party previously had little or no representation.

Referring to the national vision of development, Nath said, “Everyone is talking about Viksit Bharat. Without West Bengal, this vision cannot be fulfilled.” He added that people in the state have now realized that only the BJP can ensure real development, progress, and stability.

Concluding his remarks, Nath maintained that the prevailing public mood clearly signals a desire for change, which he believes will be reflected in the election outcome.
