Agartala/New Delhi:
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Sunday met Nitin Nabin, who is set to take over as the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in New Delhi. The meeting took place shortly after the Chief Minister arrived in the national capital in response to a call from the party’s central leadership.

According to party sources, all Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states have been summoned to New Delhi from January 19 to January 22 as part of the formal process for the election of the BJP’s national president. Following this directive, Dr Saha reached Delhi on Sunday afternoon and held discussions with the party’s national working president.

Speaking about the meeting, Dr Saha said detailed deliberations were held on organisational matters in Tripura as well as on various ongoing and upcoming development initiatives in the state. He also highlighted the progress made under the BJP-led government and shared inputs on strengthening the party organisation at the grassroots level.

During the interaction, the Chief Minister extended a cordial invitation to Nitin Nabin to visit Tripura, particularly the holy shrine of Mata Tripurasundari, one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in the state. The invitation was seen as a gesture reflecting Tripura’s cultural and spiritual heritage.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party has officially announced the schedule for the election of its national president. As per the party programme, nominations for the post will be filed on Monday. The scrutiny of nomination papers and withdrawal, if any, will also take place on the same day. The final result and formal announcement of the new BJP national president are scheduled for January 20, 2026, at the party’s national headquarters in New Delhi.

Party sources indicated that the election process is likely to be unopposed. Nitin Nabin is widely expected to be the sole candidate for the post and, if elected, will become the youngest national president in the history of the BJP.

The developments underline the importance of organisational unity and coordination as the party prepares for future electoral and political challenges across the country.
