Agartala: Jan 03: At a press conference held at the Press Club today, Pushpita Gupta, a representative of the Global Bangla Hindu Alliance, expressed concerns about the current situation in Bangladesh. Gupta alleged that the country has become a terrorist state, posing a threat not only to Bangladesh but to the entire region.
Gupta highlighted the ongoing mass uprising in Bangladesh, which has led to significant instability. She reported that Hindu, Chakma, and other minority communities are facing severe attacks, resulting in numerous families being displaced and many homes being set on fire. Additionally, Hindu businesses have been looted. Gupta also mentioned the arrest of Chinmay Prabhu, who has not been granted bail.
According to Gupta, the Bangladeshi government has suppressed freedom of speech, with individuals who speak against the government being arrested. She reiterated her claim that Bangladesh has become a terrorist state, endangering the entire region.
In response to the crisis, the Global Bangla Hindu Alliance has presented a five-point demand to the United Nations. Sushant Das, another representative of the organization, called for the deployment of UN peacekeeping forces to protect Hindus and other minorities, the use of drones in Hindu-dominated areas to ensure their safety, and the rehabilitation of displaced minorities. These demands aim to address the challenges faced by minorities in Bangladesh and seek international intervention.
