Agartala: Dec 24: It has been decided to launch awareness programs on ‘Jago Grahak Jago’ (Wake Up Consumer), ‘Road Safety’, and ‘Anti-Drug’ in 25 higher educational institutions across the state from next week. This was announced by Food Minister Sushanta Chowdhury at the “National Consumer Day-2024” program organized by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Welfare at Prajna Bhavan in Agartala today on the occasion of National Consumer Day.
Chowdhury stated that a decision has been taken to launch awareness programs in 25 colleges, including general degree, polytechnic, and renowned institutions in the state, jointly by the Transport and Home Departments. Awareness camps and programs on ‘Jago Grahak Jago’, ‘Road Safety’, and ‘Anti-Drug’ will be held there. Rallies, quiz competitions, and prize distributions will be organized within the next week.
He mentioned that the road safety program will start from January next year. The main goal of the government is to increase awareness. Even if this program reaches only 10 people, society will benefit. The government aims to create a mass movement, he added.
